5. Trim ends of D even with A unit as shown in Figure 6.

6. Stitch D triangles on remaining sides, matching marks to center seams and referring to Figure 7. Press seams away from A unit.

7. Trim block to 11½" square, centering angled A unit (Figure 8).

8. Repeat steps 4–7 to make a total of seven Cube 2 blocks.

9. Repeat steps 4–7 with reversed D triangles to make one Cube 3 block.

Completing the A-C Units

1. Cut a C strip into two pieces (Figure 9a) and stitch pieces on either side of an A square referring to Figure 9b. Note: To change the A square position within the units, do not cut the C strips into equal pieces. Position some A squares on the end of a full-length C strip for more variety.
